Anybody even remotely associated with the climbing community knows Howitt and his ‘claims’. The problem is, those claims have little to do with reality. On top of that, Howitt has made a career of crashing internet forums with a veritable army of avatars all claiming to have witnessed his exploits, and more insidiously, attacking authentic climbers who he has perceived to have wronged him.

Lots of information and press to sift through – but, it boils down to a great current speed climber in Oregon, Dan Howitt who holds all OFFICIAL records on EACH peak, amazing! Official, thatâ??s right, timed by people like Oregon Peak Adventures, Climb Max Mountaineering, Oregon Army Natiional Guard and on and on. Howittâ??s times are amazing, 1:56min official ascent of Hood from the parking lot at Timberline Lodge! Done with a dog, that would slow you down tons! Sub 5hr ascent of Rainier! From the parking lot, 9+ miles 9000+ feet vertical to the summit! Beats the prior record of Jim Whittaker (Everest Legend) by 20 minutes, Jimâ??s was OFFICIAL too! Awesome guys! Timed by Climb Max people, Jacob Kamermeyer, Brogan Adams, Iâ??ve met both.”

That is pushing super hard up Mt. Hood. Sweet Howitt did it officially timed in 1:56, 39sec. With his dog 🙂 man that’s intense. It makes it a lot harder with a dog compared to focusing on yourself. I saw some great photos of this climb..

did you find any information. i moved to colorado from boston and regularly run up mt. elbert, very rough and challenging. i’ve never been to the glacier volcanoes but hear they are just horribly difficult to run. hence the ‘speedclimb’ technique on the glacier/snow.
those official times by Dan Howitt are incredulous! truly inspiring. and that they’re official is outstanding. it should really be a sport.

On the internet there are a lot of his summit photos and some start photos taken by his timers. Pretty cool.
