New climbing blogs – The Climbing

Author: 22 Comments Share:

I’m finally starting to see an increase in the number of climbing blogs being created. For a while, there was a surprising few climbing blogs while there were many web sites dedicated to climbing. This post is the first in a series that will highlight new climbing blogs. If you have a blog dedicated to climbing, let me know about it. Contact me with as much info as you care to leave including what topics you cover, your climbing background, and what climbing areas you frequent.

The first is a blog titled The Climbing. This brand new (June 2006) climbing focused blog already has some good product reviews (Petzl Zipka, Arcâ??teryx Vapor Harness) and promises to have a heavy focus on gear.

  1. I sort of have a climbing blog…at least it was from August 2004-September 2005 as I roadtripped around North America. Now I have parked myself in Utah permanently and I still post a lot of climbing pics, etc, on it, but I also post stuff for my family too. Email me and I’ll give you the blog address if your interested.

  2. Hi Tom,

I’m looking foward to this feature as I looked around quite extensively when I first started mine, yours was the only one I found.
Mines more about cars than climbing just at the moment though 🙁

  3. Thanks ShadyCraig. I’ve also found some blogs I’ll be highlighting that aren’t necessarily new, but just flew under everyone’s radar.

  4. This isn’t a blog but the odd time, such as now, there is a nice article on climbing written on this journalists website
    http://www.eveirvine.com
currently the front page leads with underwater climbing in Amsterdam, the netherlands

  5. Hey Tom. I like your new site. Some interesting posts, and great links. I have a blog which i put up a few weeks ago. It is focusing on my upcoming trip to New Zealand, where I’ll be doing alot of climbing and posting pictures, but I’ve already posted a couple of trip reports and some photos.

  6. Hello Tom,
I’ve been enjoying reading over your many posts.
    You have great adventures!
Do you think a post area on ‘giving back’ to the wilderness and climbing areas would be well received?
My blogs are at http://www.blogger.com under:
    DSD Summit Stones or
Summit Stones & Adventure Musings By DSD
I will definitely visit here again,

  9. Hello everyone,

I am looking for a climber who loves mountains and ice and jumping out of helicopters or at least did at Nellis AFB more than the flat lands of Texas have you seen him

  10. tom, i just published a book The boys of Everest: chris Bonington and the Tragedy of Climbing’s Greatest Generation. Any thoughts on blogs and websites where i might spread the word? thanks so much. I’m always eager to get feedback and questions re the book.

  11. This might seem like a strange request, but I’m looking for a poster of the Tetons from around 1984. While an employee for Rock Resorts in the Tetons, I took a mountain climbing class with Exum Mountaineering. I also purchased a poster of the Tetons, and it said something like Exum Mountaineering, Jackson Hole Wyoming. The poster has been ruined. I called Exum Mountaineering, and they remembered the poster, but they no longer produce them. Does anyone know where I might be able to purchase one? My e-mail address is SapShack@earthlink.net.

  12. Hey Allclimbing,

I have a climbing blog and a climbing site that are together. The site is http://www.rock-climbing-for-life.com and that the blog is located at http://www.rock-climbing-for-life.com/climbing-news-blog.html

The site focuses on providing tons of free rock climbing information (articles, videos, photos, news, free ebooks, and more) for rock climbers and a chance to share your content. You can share your climbing videos, photos, stories, you can ask the climbing expert questions, submit news, and whoever contributes the best content wins a $75 shopping spree to an outdoor company.

My blog focuses on Climbing News and reviews.

    Thanks

    Ryan
