I just returned from a great bouldering session today at a new, yet to be named, area in Virginia. It’s hard to believe that these boulders have not been developed yet due to their proximity to the Appalachian Trail; but the dirt, shrubbery, heavy lichen, and lack of chalk say otherwise. There are a few […]
The Tugging Shacks is a small, yet very cool bouldering area near Interp and OUL at the New River Gorge. While mentioned on the Waterstone Outdoors site and in an old paper guidebook, there are no details in the popular Sketches guidebook by Chris Anthony. Here are some shots of a classic V3 arete at […]
Blacksburg climber Dave Reis on the Ronski Feint (V7) at the Interp bouldering area, New River Gorge. And yes, despite Dave’s shirtless send of this problem, it was late November! The problem finishes just to the left of the tree.
Late in the fall last year, there were some excellent bouldering conditions at the New River Gorge. The next couple of posts highlight some of these problems. The following pics are of Shampoo (V5) at Burnwood.

I’ve climbed several times at Rumney a few years back, but never had the chance to go bouldering at Pawtuckaway. From the pics, it looks like I need to get back up there sometime. For more bouldering info […]
After my trip to Boone earlier this year, I’ve been itching to get back down there this Fall. Here’s an video posted on rockclimbing.com that shows a sampling of bouldering in North Carolina.
Andy Earl has repeated High Fidelity (V13) at Caley in West Yorkshire reports UKclimbing.com.
Last weekend I managed to take some decent shots of an unnamed (I think) sloper problem at Bozoo, WV. The problem is roughly V2/V3 and is located in front of the warm up boulders at Bozoo (on the left side as one heads up to the Iceberg and the cliff line).
Betabase has recently posted two cool videos of bouldering in Yosemite. The first video is of Rabbit Habit (V8) on the LeConte Cave boulder. The second video is of King Cobra Sit (v9). UPDATE: From Tim Medina at Betabase regarding King Cobra Sit: “I hit the record button a little late and that is why […]
